Jerusalem Film Festival

The Jerusalem Film Festival project was one of the most ambitious undertakings in my career. Approached by the Cinematheque of Jerusalem, I was tasked with creating a breathtaking visual mapping experience on the ancient walls of the Old City at the King David Gate. Spanning a colossal projection area of nearly 100 meters, this project redefined what was possible in the realm of visual storytelling.

Pushing boundaries of innovation

  • Crafted an immersive visual narrative tailored to the unique architecture of Jerusalem’s historic stone walls.
  • Merged cutting-edge 3D modeling and animation techniques with the timeless texture of the Old City.
  • Conceived six meticulously designed scenes that transformed the wall into a dynamic, illuminated canvas.
  • Pioneered techniques to achieve effects impossible with traditional lighting, respecting the monument's protected status.

Production Technology

The scale and complexity of this project demanded state-of-the-art technology, meticulous planning, and creative ingenuity. Every aspect of production was carefully engineered to bring this vision to life.

Precision meets imagination

  • Utilized 4 massive 4K laser projectors to achieve seamless, ultra-high-definition projection across the 100-meter span.
  • Created a precise 3D model of the wall, accounting for each stone's unique texture and shape.
  • Used advanced compositing and 3D software to craft animations that harmonized with the structure's geometry.
  • Leveraged synchronized projection technology to create a single cohesive visual display across multiple projectors.
